The judges were thoroughly impressed with JD Gyms' project, which won a gold prize. They praised the scale of the project, the use of traditional neon, and the attention to detail that was put into achieving the desired look. They were particularly impressed with how the project perfectly captured the brief and made the gym look serious and inviting.
What we're looking for
The Illumination category covers the design and application of all illuminated signage and may comprise neon, LED, fluorescent, fabricated 3 dimensional letters/shapes, flexi-face or light box mounted imagery. The entry maybe 3 dimensional or flat. In this category all forms of production are permitted providing the signage is internally illuminated. Additionally structural techniques, methodology and manufacturing elements are also considered.
Category Requirements
Photos of entries in this category are required of the signage in both night and day, lit and unlit, states. Consideration will be given for originality, the scale, reflection, refraction, movement or change and the technical and aesthetic design.
Judging will be based on, but not limited to, the following guidelines:
50% Innovative design (both aesthetic and technical) and overall impact of the sign.
30% Innovative use of materials and lighting effects.
20% Technical difficulty of construction and installation.
